What can I do if my state does not have a State Sex Offender Registry?
Local law enforcement is required to register sex offenders. However, some police departments will not notify the community, but the information is available if the public wants it. Many police departments cite lack of funding, resources, or hesitancy because they feel it may infringe on the rights of the sex offender.
